1. Who we are
Ragnar is a brand of IGNIS Overseas Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13434452), registered office Flat 28, 480 London Road, Isleworth, England, TW7 4RL. IGNIS Overseas Ltd is the controller of personal data collected through ragnaroil.com. You can contact us about this notice or your data at info@ragnaroil.com.
2. What we collect and why
- Contact form: your name, email address and message. We use them to reply to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interests (answering people who contact us); if you ask about buying from us, steps you ask us to take before a contract. We keep them for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless we need them longer for a legal claim.
- Website assistant (AI chat): see section 3. Legal basis: legitimate interests. Kept for 90 days.
- Technical data: our web host’s server logs record IP addresses and page requests, for security and to keep the site working. Legal basis: legitimate interests (security). Kept for a limited period set by our host.
We do not use your data for marketing, we do not sell it, and we make no automated decisions about you.
3. Website assistant (AI chat)
Our website assistant uses artificial intelligence to answer questions about our products. When you send a message, your message and the earlier messages in that chat are sent, together with text from this website’s pages, to Anthropic (the Claude API), which writes the reply. Anthropic acts as our processor under its data processing terms. It deletes these messages within 30 days, unless it needs to keep them longer to enforce its usage policy or to meet a legal obligation.
We keep a record of each chat so we can check that the assistant gives accurate and safe information. The record holds the time, the page, your message, the reply and a visitor code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to your IP address. We do not record your IP address. Email addresses and phone or card numbers are masked automatically before the record is saved. Records are deleted automatically after 90 days, and only authorised IGNIS personnel can see them.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interests: answering your question, and making sure what the assistant tells customers is correct and safe. You can object at any time by emailing info@ragnaroil.com. Please do not enter personal, order, payment or health details in the chat — for anything about an order, email us instead. The assistant can make mistakes: always follow the product label and safety data sheet.
4. Cookies
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our web host may set a short technical cookie to check that a request comes from a real browser; it is used only for security and not to track you.
5. Who we share it with
Our service providers, who act on our instructions: our web host and email provider (HostGator) and, for the website assistant, Anthropic. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
6. Data sent outside the UK
Some of these providers, including Anthropic and our web host, process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards in our providers’ data processing terms — for Anthropic, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and in some cases to move it. Email info@ragnaroil.com; we reply within one month. We can only find a chat record if you tell us the date, time and page of the chat. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), but please contact us first so we can try to help.
8. Changes
We may update this notice. The date at the top shows the last change.
